DINING ON CAMPUS
Housing staff and student representatives work closely with our campus food service provider Chartwells "Warrior Eats" to ensure that residents have the best possible dining experience.
Warrior Eats has multiple dining venues on campus, including the return of an all-you-care-to-eat venue (Main Dining) with a variety of food service stations. The menus offer a wide variety of choices and options for each individual dietary consideration – vegan and vegetarian, gluten free, lactose free and more. Not finding options that work? Make an appointment with Chef to review menus and discover what’s available.
Did you know that campus dining has their own website and app? On the Dine on Campus platforms, students can
- View dining menus and locations
- Recharge their meal plan
- Learn more about wellness and nutrition
- Apply to work in a campus dining location
- Submit feedback or ideas
Students can also text-to-chat the Warrior Eats leadership team at (209) 841-0772 or email warrioreats@csustan.edu.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I Change My Meal Plan?
Residents have a 10-day window following the official Move-In Day to make changes to their meal plan selection. Login to your housing application for more information.
How Do I Use My Meal Plan?
All plans are loaded onto resident Warrior ID cards. Use your Warrior ID as a debit card at any dining venue on campus! Main Dining will deduct swipes or flex, and other venues will deduct flex dollars or meal exchanges.
- Any unused flex dollars left at the end of the fall semester will roll over to spring semester.
- Up to $100 of flex dollars can be used at the Canteens, located in the Village Cafe or first floor of the library.
- Meal plan swipes and funds that have not been used by the closure of dining services for the Contract Year (e.g. end of the school year in May) will be forfeited to Chartwells/Warrior Eats, per the university dining contract. If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it!
Need to recharge? Students, family, or friends can add more funds to a meal plan on the Dine on Campus website.
Where Can I Use My Meal Plan?
Meal plans swipes and flex can be used at any open dining venue on campus, including Main Dining, Starbucks, Red Wave, Warrior Grill, The Market, and Canteens! For more details about dining hours and locations, visit the Dine on Campus website. Venues are subject to change as adjusted by Chartwells/Warrior Eats.
In a hurry? Download the Boost Mobile Ordering app in the App Store or Google Play to preorder and use your meal plan to pay for meals at Starbucks, Red Wave, or Warrior Grill.
How Do I Check My Meal Plan Funds?
To view how many swipes or flex funds you have left on your card, visit www.warriorcard.com.
You will notice multiple categories of funds, including:
- Flex - can be used like a debit card at Starbucks, Red Wave, The Market, Warrior Grill, and (if out of swipes) Main Dining.
- Meals (AKA Meal Swipes) - can be used at Main Dining or for Meal Exchange Limited Menu items at Warrior Grill or Starbucks.
- Canteen Cash - can be used at the Canteen in the Cafe or Library. $100 of your flex funds are automatically eligible to be used at the Canteen but, if you do not wish to use the Canteen, will function just like Flex at the locations listed above.
- Meal Exchange - can be used at Warrior Grill or Starbucks' Meal Exchange Limited Menus. Will deduct from your total swipe count, if used.
After making a purchase from a dining venue on campus, your receipt will display the remaining balance of whatever fund category you used on that purchase.
Why Does It Look Like I've Already Used So Many Swipes or Spent So Much Flex?
Your Meal Plan is made up of a few categories and sub-categories of funds.
Your swipe count may appear fewer than the designated amount (e.g. less than 125 or 140) due to the Meal Exchange program.
- A designated amount of Meal Exchanges have been transferred from your swipe count balance so that you have the option of using them at either Warrior Grill or Starbucks.
- If you run out of swipes during the semester but still have Meal Exchanges on your account you can swipe at Main Dining, Warrior Grill, or Starbucks.
Your flex dollar amount may appear less than your initial balance (e.g. you have the Suite Plan and it shows $600 instead of $700) due to $100 of your flex funds being converted into Canteen Cash automatically.
- This allows you to use the Canteen in the Village Cafe or Library without having to use a credit or debit card.
- If you don't want to use the Canteen, you can still use this $100 as flex funds at Starbucks, Red Wave, Warrior Grill, The Market, or Main Dining.
What's a Meal Exchange and How Does it Work?
Meal Exchanges allow residents to utilize a designated amount of swipes at the Warrior Grill or Starbucks each week, as an alternative to Main Dining. Both locations will offer limited menus that can purchased with a swipe. Just let the cashier know you are using a Meal Exchange when you pay!
Meal Exchanges are loaded every Monday and do not roll over week-to-week. If you don't use the Meal Exchange, the swipe will not be deducted from your swipe count.
I lost my Warrior ID. What Do I Do?!
If your Warrior Card is lost or stolen, get a new card by visiting the OIT Help Desk on the second floor of the library. Replacement cards may be subject to a fee of $5.00.
How Do I Check My Meal Plan Balance and Add Funds?
Low on flex dollars and need a recharge? Visit the Meal Plan Purchase page on the Dine on Campus website to add funds to your meal plan anytime.
Find your remaining balance at the bottom of your receipt after a campus dining purchase, or visit www.warriorcard.com to review your purchases and view your card balance.
How Do I Use the Canteen?
The Canteen is self-service, grab-and-go dining option located in the Village Cafe and the first floor of the library. $100 worth of flex dollars are automatically eligible to be used at Canteen locations. Follow the instructions on the screen for additional details but, essentially, it's swipe and go!
