What is Digital Accessibility?
Digital accessibility means designing digital content to be fully accessed and used by people with disabilities. This includes a wide range of materials and platforms such as web pages, Microsoft Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, Canvas courses, streaming videos, emails, social media posts and mobile apps.

At Stanislaus State, everyone who creates, edits or shares digital content is responsible for making sure that it is accessible to all users. Put simply, being accessible means being inclusive of all people, including those with disabilities.
Digital accessibility is not only a legal requirement under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) but also a reflection of Stanislaus State’s values of diversity, inclusion and access for all.
Why It Matters
For Jeanette Jones, accessibility isn’t just about convenience. It’s about the ability to learn, participate and thrive. Accessibility makes it possible for students like Jeanette to fully engage in their education, pursue professional goals and contribute meaningfully to the campus community. As she puts it, “When you advocate for yourself and have access, it’s possible to succeed on your own terms.”
