First year students will be placed by Housing staff into units based on their Room Type and Community selections in the housing application.

  • If they have not created or been added to a Roommate Group, they will be matched with roommates based on their Resident Profile.

Upperclass and transfer students will be able to select the room and unit they want to live in, as well as who they want to live with, during Room Selection.

  • Room Selection typically occurs in May (online) and all applicants who have completed housing applications and are not on a waitlist will be invited to participate.
  • Applicants who complete their housing application after Room Selection has occurred will be manually placed by Housing staff.

If a student misses Room Selection and has a specific room or roommate request*, or if they are unable to form a Roommate Group in the housing application, they must submit a Placement Request Form.

*If submitting a Placement Request Form to request roommates, ALL potential roommates must submit the form, have completed housing applications, and have matching Room Types and Community preferences.

First year residents are placed into rooms based on their preferred Room Type and Community preferences selected in the housing application.
