During New Student Orientation "NSO", all incoming students will learn about valuable campus resources, explore general education requirements, receive major advising, and register for classes. What better way to kick off your new student experience than by staying overnight in the residence halls?

Please note that overnight stays are available for students only. Family members, friends, and guests cannot be accommodated to stay on-campus at this time.

Please note that registering below for an overnight stay does not register you for NSO nor does it affect or influence your 2024-25 housing application. If you need to cancel your stay, contact the Housing office at 209-667-3675 at least 24 hours before your scheduled check-in date. Late cancellations and no-show reservations will incur a flat rate fee of $45.00.

To register for an overnight stay, find your New Student Orientation date above and select the "Register Now" button. This will take you to a portal where students can sign up, pay for their overnight stay, and learn more about what's included in their stay. 

Yes. It costs $50.00 per night to stay on-campus during New Student Orientation.

Your overnight housing charges will be posted to your Stan State student account after the conclusion of your stay. You can view your account in your My Stan State Portal.

Yes. Students will be in a shared unit, but will have their own bedroom.

  • Each unit has one bathroom, two sinks, and a shower as well as a common area living room.
  • The living room has a mini-fridge and microwave or full kitchen shared by roommates.
  • Each bedroom has a twin-XL bed, desk, and dresser.

No,  family members, friends, or guests may not stay overnight in the residence halls during NSO.

Housing will provide toilet paper, hand soap, disposable water cups, and a common area a mini-fridge and microwave shared by suitemates.

We recommend that students pack a sleeping bag or bed linens, pillow, bathroom and/or pool towel, toiletries, light snacks, and a reusable water bottle. Students will be able to check  prior to checking in for New Student Orientation. 

Check-In Times:

  • 1-Night Stay (Before NSO): 3:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • 1-Night Stay (Night-Of NSO): 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • 2-Night Stay (Before NSO and Night-Of NSO): 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Check-Out Time: 7:00 - 9:00 a.m.

First Year students staying on campus overnight for June NSOs are invited to participate in special Housing events such as a pool party and game night, schedule checks with our Academic Support team, and breakfast or housing tours (on Check Out Day) in the Community Center Lounge. 

There are no scheduled activities for Transfer students attending July NSOs at this time.
