The Promise Scholars Program at California State University, Stanislaus, that seeks to provide emancipated foster youth with greater access to higher education, has received an appropriation of $285,000 from the federal government.  The appropriation was included in the FY09 Omnibus Appropriations bill that was signed into law on March 11 by President Obama. 
The California State University, Stanislaus Office of Extended Education is the recipient of a national award in the print advertising category.
 
An advertisement published in The Modesto Bee alerting students to be on the lookout for their CSU Stanislaus Spring Catalog was selected in the 2009 University Continuing Education Association’s Marketing and Publications competition as a winner for colleges and universities with enrollment under 25,000.
The California State University, Stanislaus College of Education and the Department of Teacher Education, in conjunction with the Graduate School, is conducting information sessions, free to the public, on the Master’s degree program in Curriculum and Instruction.

The sessions, scheduled for Wednesday, March 11; Monday, April 6; and Friday, May 1; are designed to help Valley residents cash in on the opportunity for affordable higher education at a time when the nation is looking for long-term solutions to its economic difficulties.
