Working professionals who want to complete their four-year college degrees during the economic downturn will have the opportunity to do so in Tracy starting in January next year, when California State University, Stanislaus starts its Tracy-based Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program.

Coordinated through the University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Office of Extended Education, the program features courses in Anthropology, Criminal Justice, Geography, and Political Science.
The California State University, Stanislaus Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree program, heading into its second year, is preparing to accept a third cohort of candidates in Stockton, starting in June 2010.
 
Applications are now being accepted and a series of three information sessions have been scheduled. The first session will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 3 in Acacia Court at the CSU Stanislaus-Stockton Center, 612 East Magnolia. Other information sessions are scheduled for 5 p.m.
Members of the Nu Alpha Kappa fraternity are camping out in the Quad at California State University, Stanislaus from Sunday (Nov. 1) through Friday, November 6 during their Homelessness Awareness Week event to raise money, canned food, and clothing donations.
 
While they are conducting their camp-in demonstration in the Quad to raise awareness of the homelessness problem in the region, they will also be holding a number of special events.
Dr. Samuel Regalado, a California State University, Stanislaus Professor of History and noted baseball historian, will talk about the Japanese American (Nikkei) community’s “bridge of understanding” (kakehashi) programs of the 1920s and 1930s on Wednesday, November 4 at the University’s Turlock campus.
 
The Lunchtime Brown Bag Seminar Series program, sponsored by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and open to the public, is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in the South Dining Room next to the University’s Main Dining Hall.
Students at California State University, Stanislaus will reach out to youngsters both on and off campus this Saturday as participants in local Halloween festivities.
 
Youngsters who visit the 16th Annual Housing and Residential Life Halloween Gala at California State University, Stanislaus on Saturday, October 31 will receive a free book along with their tricks and treats and visits to the Haunted House and carnival.
