For the fourth straight year, California State University, Stanislaus has received the President’s Higher Education Community Service Award.

CSU Stanislaus was one of only seven California State University campuses to receive the national honor roll distinction.

“This award showcases the excellent work faculty, staff and students are doing in our community. As evidenced by this recognition, CSU Stanislaus is working diligently during these very difficult economic times to be an agent for positive change,” said President Dr. Hamid Shirvani.
Following this week's announcement that California State University, Stanislaus will receive $1.17 million in federal stimulus funds, President Dr. Hamid Shirvani said the one-time funds will help add classes in the 2010/11 academic year.

The funding is part of the $50.9 million allocation from the California State University system, which the Chancellor's office announced earlier this month. It is meant to enable state universities to add needed classes to the fall 2010 and spring 2011 schedules.
California State University, Stanislaus President Dr. Hamid Shirvani announced the appointment of Dr. Linda Nowak as the new Dean for the College of Business Administration. Nowak will start her new duties on March 1.

In addition to being the Executive Director of the Wine Business Institute, Nowak is a marketing professor and serves on the School of Business and Economics Executive Management Team at Sonoma State University.
Outstanding wines, beer, cheese, appetizers and desserts prepared by top regional restaurants and wineries will highlight the March 4 Vines event at CSU Stanislaus.

The area’s signature wine tasting event is hosted by the University’s Office of Alumni Affairs and sponsored by E. & J. Gallo Winery. It will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the CSU Stanislaus Main Dining Hall, and feature a live jazz quartet and silent auction sponsored by Boyett Petroleum to benefit the Alumni Scholarship Fund.
