General Information

Find answers to frequently asked questions about the Common Human Resources System (CHRS).

The Common Human Resources System (CHRS) is a single employment system for all 23 campuses in the California State University (CSU) system. There are currently 15 campuses live in the system with the remaining campuses migrating to CHRS in 2027. To learn about CHRS, please visit our campus CHRS website.

Yes and no. CHRS Recruiting is part of CHRS (Common Human Resources System), which includes both the consolidated PeopleSoft system (CHRS) and the CHRS Recruiting system, built within PageUp. CHRS Recruiting was the first module of CHRS (Common Human Resources System) to be implemented. When we refer to CHRS, we are referring to the PeopleSoft system. We will always say CHRS Recruiting when referring to PageUp. CHRS Recruiting focuses on position recruitment and onboarding of new employees. CHRS focuses on other employment related processes and tasks.

Likely not. As technology improves and systems are modified to make processes and functions more user-friendly, updates and upgrades need to occur. It is also critical to upgrade systems in order to get the best support from our vendors. Additional functionality and system enhancements not developed will be rolled out as more campuses switch over to CHRS (PeopleSoft 9.2).
