Fall 2024

As you plan your Fall 2024 semester schedule, please remember to work into your schedule the courses you need to complete to maintain good standing in the Honors Program.  To assist you in identifying which courses these might be, we’re sending you this communication to confirm the Honors courses available to you in Fall 2023. Please use the information below to figure out which classes you’ll want to take based on you standing (i.e. if you are a sophomore next year, you’ll want to focus on the Sophomore Experience classes and any Freshman Experience classes you still need that you weren’t able to fit into your schedule this year).

We’re also attaching a copy of the Honors advising checklist you can use to keep track of your progress and plan for classes you’ll want to take in the future semesters.

As always, we do not require you to take Honors classes to meet a GE requirement you’ve already fulfilled through AP credit or as a prerequisite/corequisite course in your major.  If there are scheduling conflicts between classes you need for your major and your Honors classes, we recommend you take the class for your major now and pick up the Honors class(es) in a future semester.  Please contact us in advance so we are all on the same page, and let us know if you’d like our help in resolving specific conflicts.

We’d also like to remind you that you will not need permission numbers to register for our courses .  Your status as an Honors student will allow you to enroll in Honors classes without a permission number (students outside the program cannot add Honors classes). This means you’ll be able to re-arrange your schedule (including changing to a different section, choosing a different Honors class, etc.) as needed without requesting new permission numbers.

It also means that we won’t be able to give you advising advice if you don’t get in touch to ask questions, so please be sure to read the recommendations below carefully and let us know if you have questions, if you’d like suggestions, or if you just want to run your schedule by us to make sure you’re on the right track. We’re happy to “talk” over email or set up a Zoom or in-person advising appointment—just let us know! You can make an Honors advising appointment with Dr. Bell or email Dr. Bell (eebell@csustan.edu) for more options.

If you have any difficulty registering for classes, please email Honors Administrative Coordinator Kirstin Normark (khalstead@csustan.edu) to let us know so we can get things worked out for you.

Please note that classes marked ** also meet the University's Multicultural Requirement.

Please contact us by email with any questions,

Thanks!
