Assistance is available to connect you with nutritious food, meals and sustenance.

Basic Needs

Provides support services ranging from emergency crisis support, housing insecurity and food assistance to enrolled students.

CalFresh

Care Coordinators are available to assist you in applying to the CalFresh food benefit program.

CalWORKS

Helps eligible low-income families cover basic expenses such as housing, food and utilities through monthly cash aid.

Emergency Grants

Students experiencing a personal crisis or qualifying emergency situation may be eligible for assistance.

Cal Grant

Offers financial aid that does not require repayment, including extra funds for foster youth and students with dependents to help with living and academic expenses.

Financial Aid & Scholarship Office

Administers financial aid programs and University scholarship funds to help students meet their educational expenses.

California Earned Income Tax Credit and Young Child Tax Credit

Are you low income and actively working? Do you also care for a child under 6? Check to see if you qualify for these tax credits.

Cost of Attendance Adjustment

Enables students to request a Cost of Attendance adjustment that may qualify them for more grants, loans, work-study, or scholarships. To request an adjustment, reach out to the financial aid office, Request a COA Adjustment.

Dependent Care Allowance

Helps student parents receive additional financial aid by counting childcare and dependent care costs in their Cost of Attendance.

Provides up to $5,000 annually to support current and former foster youth in covering college and living expenses.

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)

Supports individuals in building skills and accessing employment opportunities through training, coaching, and job placement services.

Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8)

Provides monthly financial assistance to help low-income households secure safe and affordable housing.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Provides financial and in-home support to manage energy costs and improve home efficiency for eligible households.

Supplemental Security Income / State Supplementary Payment (SSI/SSP)

This program provides monthly financial assistance to low-income individuals who are blind, disabled, or 65 years of age or older.

Medi-Cal

Provides free or low-cost health coverage to help eligible individuals and families access essential medical care.

Covered California

Offers affordable health insurance options with financial assistance to help individuals and families access essential medical care.

Federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)

Supports low- and moderate-income households by providing a refundable tax credit based on earned income and family size.

California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC)

Helps eligible Californians reduce state taxes or receive a refund to support essential household expenses.

Child Tax Credit (CTC)

Provides a refundable tax credit for eligible families, increasing refunds to help cover household expenses for each qualifying child.

Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC)

Supports families raising children under six by boosting refunds or lowering taxes through the YCTC.

Foster Youth Tax Credit

Federal Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (CDCTC)

American Opportunity Tax Credit

Offers financial relief for education expenses by providing a refundable federal tax credit for tuition and required supplies.

Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC)

Offers financial relief for tuition and school-related expenses by providing a refundable federal education tax credit.

Free Tax Filing Services (VITA)

Provides free tax preparation services for eligible individuals and families, helping ensure accurate filing and access to all eligible credits.
