SAFE Act - SB 98: Campus Notifications for Immigration Enforcement and Compliance Visits

California adopted Senate Bill 98, the Sending Alerts to Families in Education (SAFE) Act, requiring educational institutions to email the campus community if immigration enforcement activity is confirmed to be taking place on campus. Additionally, the law requires campuses to provide support for students, including those who are detained, deported or otherwise unable to meet their academic obligations because of immigration enforcement activity. Notifications will be posted on this web page about immigration officer compliance visits; these visits are routine.

Stan State unequivocally stands in strong support of our students, faculty and staff, and are committed to creating a welcoming and safe environment for everyone in which to thrive.

We support all students, faculty and staff regardless of their immigration status. Providing a safe and inclusive learning and working environment where all students can focus on pursuing their academic goals is at the core of who we are and what we do as a University.

This webpage provides guidance on how we will respond at both Turlock and Stockton campus locations to immigration officers, information about individual rights and available resources.

California State University (CSU) campuses, including Stan State, do not assist immigration officials engaged in enforcement activities on our campus, including officials of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection. Stan State will continue to follow CSU policy and the December 2024, California Attorney General’s guidance on immigration concerns: Promoting a Safe and Secure Campus for All.
