Safety & Risk Management

As a service department within the Office of Business and Finance, we provide risk management consultation, training, and resources to the university community. Our goal is to minimize the risk of loss at a reasonable cost to the university by:

  • Providing guidance on the application of risk management techniques and procedures appropriate to the campus in consultation with appropriate administrative personnel
  • Providing reports of activities and trends, including methods to prioritize risks, evaluate costs of risk, and monitor results
  • Providing risk management training to the University community
  • Developing campus risk management policies and procedures
  • Selecting the best risk management techniques to manage risk without unduly curtailing or modifying activities necessary to the University mission
  • Transferring risk through liability waivers, hold harmless agreements, or through vendor contracting
