What is the Peer Health Educator program?
The program is designed as a volunteer peer health education (PHE) program and is an important part of the Health Education and Promotion (HEP) Office at the Stanislaus State Student Health Center. PHEs will be trained to educate other students about a variety of health topics including general health and wellness, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, mental health, alcohol awareness, and sexual health. Educational outreach programs include various methods: workshops, tabling in the Quad, social media engagement, and more!

Interested Students Should Possess the Following:
- A strong interest and enthusiasm in promoting healthy behaviors among peers
- An open mind to diverse cultures, practices, and sexual orientations
- Sensitivity to controversial and personal topics, and a willingness to talk candidly about them
- Dedication and commitment to health promotion and disease prevention
- Sincere concern for others, their well-being, and quality of life
- On-going commitment to the role and responsibility as a PHE volunteer which includes time, energy, and willingness to be adaptable
What are the requirements?
- Interviews will be held at the end of April/early May
- Two-semester commitment: Fall 2024 through Spring 2025
- 5-7 hours per week to plan and implement health promotion activities
- Students must be able to perform job duties and be accountable by adhering to Student Health Center policies and procedures, and Health Educator supervision.
