The Tuff Boy companies and Escalon community groups have contributed funds to ensure that students from low-income families in Manteca, Lathrop, Ripon, and Escalon can attend the Great Valley Writing Camps.

Who Qualifies For These Scholarships?

These full scholarships will be awarded to low-income applicants only. (If your child qualifies for free or reduced lunch at school, you probably meet the scholarship criteria.)

ONLY students from Ripon, Manteca, Lathrop, French Camp, and Escalon are eligible for the scholarships.

The scholarships are not based on academic achievement or writing performance — GVWP workshops help all students to become better writers, regardless of their current interest and ability in writing.

2018 Application Deadlines

Our scholarship applicants are screened by our very good friends and community-service partners at Give Every Child A Chance (GECAC). On March 31st, the GECAC office will begin processing scholarship applications; the deadline for submitting applications is May 4, 2018.

How To Apply

If your child is already an active participant in GECAC tutoring programs, there is no need to submit a new application form to GECAC. Simply telephone the GECAC office at (209) 825-7003 to ask for enrollment instructions.

If your child does NOT currently participate in GECAC programs, you must complete a "Request for Tutoring" form to apply for a scholarship. It's easy to get this form:

  • Visit the GECAC office in Manteca (322 Sun West Place, Suite A), pick up a Request for Tutoring form at your school office

Be sure to write "Great Valley Writing Camp" across the top of page one.

Fill out page 1 and page 3 of the form. (Unless you wish to apply for after-school tutoring, you don't need to select a tutoring site on page two.)

Completed forms may be hand-delivered to the GECAC office or mailed to this address:

GECAC
322 Sun West Place, Suite A
Manteca, CA 95337

Deadline to submit scholarship applications: May 4, 2018.

GECAC staff members will let you know whether you meet the criteria. If you are approved,  they will help you enroll your children online.
