Location: Snider Hall, Stanislaus State, Turlock CA

Free Event Open to the Public: students, faculty, staff, and campus community are welcome

The Pre Law Minor and the College of the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences are honored to present Mano Raju and Jacque Wilson from the San Francisco Public Defender's Office for the fifth annual Para La Defensa speaker series. Para La Defensa brings notable criminal defense attorneys to campus every spring to address pertinent issues in law, public policy, and criminal justice reform.

As the only elected Public Defender in California, Mano Raju upholds the Office’s reputation not only as a formidable group of lawyers, paralegals, social workers, investigators and support staff but also as a catalyst for criminal legal system change in local and state-wide arenas. Senior trial lawyer Jacque Wilson is a 1997 Stan State Criminal Justice major.  Come hear them speak about their lives in public interest law, criminal justice reform, policy issues, community outreach, the immigration debate, racism and xenophobia, the messaging we receive from the realms of politics and the media, and the critical role public defenders play in our legal system. Join us in welcoming these distinguished professionals to our community for an exciting and informative evening. Q&A to follow.
