California State University, Stanislaus faculty members Dr. Agnes Riedmann, a Professor of Sociology, and Dr. Molly Crumpton Winter, an Associate Professor of English, have been selected for Fulbright Awards that will take them to Poland and Japan respectively during the 2008-09 academic year.

Gerardo Martinez steered his way through job changes and personal tragedy. Vance Prather found prestigious opportunities opened for him. Mark Sey discovered a strong support network after making a difficult decision regarding a family issue. All three are pleased with what they have gained both professionally and personally as members of the first cohort of the California State University, Stanislaus Executive Master of Business Administration degree program that concluded in November.

Submissions of short fiction, poetry, art work, and photography are being accepted through February 26, 2009 for “Penumbra,” the annual California State University, Stanislaus art and literary magazine.

Now that the inaugural California State University, Stanislaus Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree program has been successfully launched, preparations are being made to accept a second cohort of doctoral candidates by June 2009.

CSU Stanislaus will start accepting applications for the second cohort on December 1, with a priority deadline set for February 16, 2009. Founding Doctoral Program Director Dr. Steven K. Lee said that a series of information sessions on the program are scheduled from November 18 through January 29. 
A full week of activities, including the traditional basketball game, are scheduled for November 17-21 as California State University, Stanislaus celebrates its annual Homecoming.

The first round of the “Mr. and Ms. Warrior” pageant competition opens the festivities in the University Quad at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, November 17. The winners will be introduced during halftime of the CSU Stanislaus men’s basketball team’s 7 p.m. homecoming game against William Jessup University of Rocklin on Thursday, November 20.  
Turlock high school and junior high school students are receiving tutoring for challenging mathematics assignments from members of the Math Club at California State University, Stanislaus as part of a fundraising project.

The club’s third and final “Tutoring Night” session of the fall semester is scheduled for Monday, November 17, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the University Union Event Center.  The program is open to all high school and junior high school students on a drop-in basis and more sessions are planned for the spring semester.
