In observance of the holiday season, California State University, Stanislaus will be closed for its annual winter break from noon on Monday, December 24, 2007, through Tuesday, January 1, 2008.

The University will reopen on Wednesday, January 2, 2008.

Fall semester classes and final examinations concluded on Tuesday, December 18. The winter term session will start on Thursday, January 3 and continue through Monday, February 4. Spring semester classes are scheduled for Wednesday, February 13 through Thursday, May 29.
California State University, Stanislaus will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a series of activities and special events through 2010. As an initial tribute to its half-century of higher education service, the University has launched a commemorative website this month titled "Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence 1960-2010."
Parents and family members of California State University, Stanislaus students will have an opportunity to experience university life during the first annual Family Weekend on October 20-22. Advance reservations are required by September 27.

Academic programs have a new streamlined look at California State University, Stanislaus this year and students have additional offerings to choose from as part of the restructuring. The changes reflect the continuing drive for excellence under the leadership of second-year President Hamid Shirvani.

The Stanislaus State Chicano Alumni Chapter, Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA) and Los Hijos del Teatro del Campo are sponsoring the program.

Garza, a former university administrator and college professor, has published two books about Murieta: “Joaquin: Demystifying the Murieta Legend” and “Joaquin Murrieta: A Quest for Justice”.

Active in the Chicano movement since the 1960s and a community organizer, Garza served as a superintendent of schools in Parlier in addition to teaching and has worked in the public and private sectors.

April 30 is the priority deadline for admission to the inaugural California State University, Stanislaus Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree program.

Preparations and the student application process for the University's groundbreaking doctorate program that will start in the fall are continuing under the direction of Dr. Steven K. Lee, Founding Director. The program is designed for educators interested in earning a doctorate to advance their careers in education.
