California State University, Stanislaus received a $500,000 gift for student scholarships from an anonymous donor who resides in Turlock on Tuesday, October 30. The generous donation results from a proposal that the president of the University, Dr. Ham Shirvani, had been working on with the donor for several months.

Shirvani said, "We have great appreciation for the generosity this donor has shown to California State University, Stanislaus. Many more students will have the opportunity to pursue higher education and earn a college degree as a result of this significant gift."
California State University, Stanislaus will join with other regional agencies to host a large-scale emergency exercise on Friday, November 16. The simulated incident at the Student Housing Complex will include student volunteers who will portray injured victims and a number of regional emergency personnel and their vehicles will be on the scene.

The University's ability to respond to an emergency and to quickly and directly communicate with students and employees during an emergency will be tested during the exercise.
State Senator Jeff Denham will speak on "Protecting Agriculture in the Central Valley" at California State University, Stanislaus on Tuesday, November 27 at 6 p.m. in the Student Union Event Center.

Denham's appearance is part of the University's Agricultural Studies Speaker Series that features presentations on timely agriculture topics. Admission to the program is free and open to the public. The series is sponsored by Yosemite Farm Credit.
