Draws

  • If judges cannot determine a winner, the fall is ruled a draw and replayed.
  • Judges write their decisions individually; majority rules. If no majority, it is a draw.
  • Draws do not count toward the match score.

Match Procedure

  • Competitors take their positions based on foot dominance; adjustments occur for same-foot or opposite-foot matches.
  • The match begins with the call of “time in.”
  • After each fall, competitors may rest 30 seconds on the starting platform.
  • If a fall occurs too close to a pool edge, dock, or obstruction, the head judge may stop and restart the fall safely.
  • Matches are typically best 3 out of 5 falls.

Using Key Log Trainers

  • Matches begin with three trainers for stability.
  • If competitors roll for 1 minute without a fall, trainers are gradually removed.
  • Trainers are not replaced once removed during the match.

Starting Methods

  • Assisted Start: Log held by judges while competitors climb on; starts with “Ready, Steady, Letting Go” or “Ready, Steady, Time In” if necessary.
  • Pole Start: Experienced method where competitors step onto the log while holding starting poles; judges call “Throw your poles” and start with “time in.”

All judges’ decisions are final.

  • Home and visiting teams determined by coin flip.

  • Defense can set up as desired.

  • Batter must kick the ball when within three feet of home plate; no strikeouts or walks; missed or foul kicks are outs.

  • If the serving team wins a point, players switch courts on their side and the same player continues serving.
