About the Student Recreation Complex & Campus Recreation Department

Mission

The mission of Campus Recreation is to aid all students in their pursuit of health and wellness by reducing stress associated with the daily challenges of their lives and evaluate the best way to meet the students’ needs as they pursue academic success in school.

Vision

Campus Recreation's vision consists of offering a large variety of quality recreational services, continually expanding the range of program offerings, and keeping the costs at a reasonable level for participants. Major efforts are underway to increase awareness of health, wellness, staying fit, and its impact on improving school performance. Campus Recreation provides healthy lifestyle-oriented programs and services oriented towards students.

About Us

Located on the east side of campus, the Campus Recreation Department is headquartered at the Student Fitness Center which is equipped with state of the art cardiovascular and weight training equipment in the fitness room and weight room for your personal fitness workouts, and it also houses a multi-sport gymnasium for recreation play. Outside the Fitness Center, you will find climbing boulders, the Al Brenda Track, and the intramural field. Keys to the track are available at the Welcome Desk when the track is not in use by a group reservation.

The Campus Recreation Department maintains and schedules the use of the Student Rec Center’s Recreation and Intramural fields, Practice Soccer Complex, and the SRC Warrior Stadium, home to the Men’s and Women’s soccer and track teams.

Sustainability

Innovative construction materials or methods

A unique roof deck material is provided that acts as the structural support for the roof, functions as an acoustically absorptive ceiling layer, and enables the efficient employment of insulation to reduce energy consumption by this large volume facility. Additionally, skylights are provided throughout the facility to allow daylight to illuminate the spaces to the maximum degree practicable, reducing energy usage by artificial lighting. Tall ceiling spaces, with fans recirculating air within each space, allow for the thermal comfort of the building occupants while maintaining higher ambient temperatures in the building, reducing the need for artificial cooling of spaces.

Sustainable Green Features

As noted above. Roof overhangs are designed to block the intense summer sun and will let in the cooler winter sun. Recycled floor and ceiling tiles and low VOC emitting paint are used. Mechanical, electrical, systems and building envelope are designed to exceed Title 24 energy requirements by 15%.

Use of technology

Technology serves the building and the operational budget by providing energy-efficient lighting, heating, and cooling systems that reduce utility bills and energy consumption. Connectivity to campus networks is provided in spaces where staff needs such access to perform their required professional responsibilities.

Risk Management

Participant's Code of Conduct

Participation is a privilege. By entering the facilities, all participants agree to adhere to the following Code of Conduct:

Assumption of Responsibility

The following applies to all Campus Recreation Facilities and programming:

No medical or ambulance expenses incurred by a participant will be paid by the Department or by the University. Participation is on a voluntary basis. Use the facility at your own risk. Participation in any physical activity involves inherent risk and even when safety precautions are utilized, injuries and accidents can occur. It is recommended that all participants undergo a prior physical examination and carry some form of health and accident insurance. CSU does not provide personal health or medical insurance for participants. If an injury does occur, it should be reported to the nearest Campus Recreation staff member.
