President's Message

ASI Vice President Averie Stockeland

Hello Warriors,

I am truly honored to serve as your Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) President. My commitment is to ensure that every student on our campus feels connected, supported, and empowered to thrive. I want all students to know that their voices matter and that they have a leader they can confidently count on. Not only by listening to student concerns, but also taking meaningful action to address the needs and priorities of our student body.

The mission of Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is to represent, advocate for, and serve students by enhancing the overall student experience. Alongside my team, Reyni Karampour, the ASI Vice President, and Manny Delgadillo, the ASI Vice President of Finance. Together, we are committed to collaboration, and intentional leadership in service of our campus community. As your ASI President, my goals include alleviating financial burdens faced by students, expanding and strengthening resources for student parents, and building upon the support on our Stockton Campus. This includes advocating for accessible spaces, essential resources, and basic needs support to ensure that all students—regardless of location—have equitable opportunities to succeed.

I firmly believe that there is a place for everyone on this campus. Each student brings unique experiences, identities, and perspectives that contribute to the strength of our community. ASI is here to meet students where they are—whether you are just beginning your journey, balancing school with work or family or seeking opportunities to grow as a leader.

Students can get involved through Student Government Leadership Council, Code Red Entertainment, student staff positions and more. When you are ready to take that next step, ASI is here to support you, uplift you, and provide pathways for leadership, involvement, and advocacy.

I look forward to working with you and serving as your ASI President as we continue to build a more inclusive, engaged, and student-centered campus.

Warm regards,

Averie Stockeland

Student Government Leadership Council (SGLC)

First-Year Leadership Experience (FLEx) photo

The Student Government Leadership Council (SGLC) is a key platform for student leadership development at Stanislaus State. By promoting engagement, advocacy, and skill-building, it prepares students to shape their campus and community. With structured training and hands on experience, members are equipped to take on leadership roles within ASI and beyond, ensuring a legacy of informed and engaged student leaders.

SGLC serves as a unified student leadership group within the Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) for students interested in governance, policy advocacy, and campus engagement. The program comprises two units—Warrior Leadership Team and Warrior Lobby Team—each catering to different levels of leadership experience.

SGLC meets weekly on Tuesdays from 3:00pm-4:00pm

Warrior Leadership Team:

  • Develop fundamental leadership skills through workshops and mentorship.
  • Assist ASI Student Government with events, initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Participate in tabling activities and campus outreach efforts.
  • Engage in leadership training focusing on teamwork, communication, and student advocacy.
  • Support the planning and execution of ASI programs and events.

Warrior Lobby Team:

  • Educate and inform students about key policy issues affecting higher education.
  • Actively participate in ASI Student Government programs and events.
  • Attend training sessions, workshops, and retreats related to student advocacy.
  • Stay informed about student issues and advocate with elected officials at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Develop lobbying skills, policy analysis techniques, and civic engagement strategies.

  • Hands-on experience in student leadership and event planning.
  • Networking opportunities with university leaders, faculty, and external professionals.
  • Development of critical skills, including public speaking, teamwork, and organizational management.
  • Recognition for contributions to student government and campus initiatives.
  • A pathway to transition into higher leadership roles within ASI and professional life.

To join SGLC, students must:

  • Be currently enrolled at Stanislaus State.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to leadership, civic engagement, and student advocacy.
  • Participate in mandatory trainings, meetings, and development sessions.

The links listed above can help you find valuable information about what you have voted for after the General Election and new issues that may arise in the future.

If you are looking to figure out who is the local elected official within your community, visit My Reps to find out.

Remember, elected officials and representatives need feedback from the people they represent (You!) to prioritize the problems that the overall community faces. The student voice is deeply valued to these representatives. If you want to reach out and write a letter or email to your local elected official, below are some templates you can use to contact them.

Remember, if/when you contact your elected official's office and after a conversation has concluded, it is always nice to send a Thank You card or letter that summarizes the conversation. Share your gratitude towards them for taking the time to talk/meet with you.

Warriors, being civically engaged does not only mean to become politically involved, it also means to become involved within the community you live in. Civic engagement includes political activism, environmentalism, and community service.

The City of Turlock has City Council meetings every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month @ 6:00 pm where Turlock residents have the opportunity to have their voice heard and have an impact on the initiatives implemented.
