Class Assignment & Project Support
We are continually improving the resources to make it easier for faculty to use the Fab Lab for class use.
If you’re interested in using the Warrior Fab Lab for class use, please fill out a Class Visitation form.
The Class Visitation form can be found on the Fab Lab’s homepage, under “Class”. Once submitted, we will be in contact for consultation for project ideas, material use, and other logistics.

General Workshops
The Warrior Fab Lab offers a variety of hands-on workshops designed to help students, faculty, and staff explore tools, technologies, and creative skills, from 3D printing and laser cutting to electronics, design software, AI and more. These sessions are open to all skill levels and are a great way to gain practical experience, complete class projects, or pursue personal interests. To view upcoming workshops and register, simply log in to Warrior Life, search for “Fab Lab” under events, and select the workshop that fits your schedule. Registration is quick and ensures your spot in the session, as space is often limited.

“3D Printing for Any Class” Workshops
Learn what the Warrior Fab Lab's 3D printing resources are available for classes. This workshop will discuss a basic overview of 3D printing, how to find and/or create 3D models, and how to use educational resources within the Fab Lab for a class project. Participants can expect to have all of the tools needed to develop a class project regardless of area of study and the material fees waived for class use this year.

Warrior Textile Collective
Crafting Community, Creating Care
Are you a knitter, crocheter, or fiber artist? Would you like to learn? Or are you simply looking for a creative way to slow down, connect with others, and give back?
Warrior Textile Collective is a collaboration between the Faculty Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and the Warrior Fab Lab, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and community members to build community through making.
Join us at the Faculty Development Center, Room 118, on Wednesdays from 1–2:45 p.m. Bring a project you're already working on or learn a new craft as we create handmade items to donate to members of our community.
All skill levels are welcome. Join the crafting and conversation and help us turn our time together into something that cares for others. And be sure to keep an eye out for additional textile-focused workshops offered through the Warrior Fab Lab!

Community of Practice
This fall Stan State will launch a year-long Faculty Community of Practice focused on Applied Student Research and Community Partnerships.
Open to faculty from all colleges and disciplines, the community will bring together a transdisciplinary group interested in expanding opportunities for students to participate in applied student research connected to real-world challenges, industry, and our regional community.
Supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) EPIIC Grant, Academic Affairs, the Faculty Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (FCETL), and the Warrior Fab Lab, the Community of Practice will work throughout the 2026–27 academic year to build a stronger campus-wide framework for undergraduate research and innovation.
Participating faculty will work collaboratively to:

Develop shared approaches and best practices for mentoring student researchers.
- Identify authentic research opportunities with community and industry partners.

Explore human-centered design, design thinking, digital fabrication, and project-based learning as complementary approaches to applied research.
- Develop transdisciplinary research concepts addressing regional and real-world challenges.

Identify external funding opportunities and collaboratively develop proposals supporting paid student research.

Help establish a sustainable campus infrastructure for applied student research, innovation, and community-engaged scholarship.
What is the commitment?
The CoP will meet approximately bi-weekly, generally in the Warrior Fab Lab (Vasche Library 258) or FCETL (Faculty Development Center). Meeting dates and times will be developed around participant availability and the priorities established by the cohort.
Faculty Support:
Faculty selected for the Community of Practice will receive a $2,000 stipend, distributed as $1,000 upon successful completion of the Fall semester and $1,000 upon successful completion of the Spring semester.
Participants will also receive professional development, access to Warrior Fab Lab facilities and technologies, technical consultation and project development support, and opportunities to collaborate with regional industry and community partners.
Who should consider participating?
Faculty from every college, discipline, and level of experience are encouraged to apply.
Previous experience with makerspaces, digital fabrication, undergraduate research, grant writing, or project-based learning or Invention Education is not required. The strength of this Community of Practice will come from bringing together faculty with different disciplinary perspectives who are interested in shaping the future of student research and innovation at Stan State.
