Background

First-Year Experience (FYE) Program Development

The First Year Experience (FYE) Program was funded by a Title V Grant, which was awarded to Stanislaus State in 2010 by the U.S. Department of Education. The FYE program seeks to provide students with an opportunity to develop and practice the skills necessary for success at the university, with a strong focus on academic writing. Sections of ENGL 1000/ENGL 1001 are also linked to the FYE program forming a strong learning community in which students can solidify and enhance their academic abilities.

The Warriors at Work program is a professional development program for Stan State student employees and on-campus interns, made possible through joint effort between Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and Human Resources.

The J. Burton Vasché Award is given annually to a student who displays the highest standards of leadership, cooperation, participation, service and scholarship. It is named in honor of the university’s founding president, J. Burton Vasché.

The Metzger-Geiger Award, established by Mr. Lee Metzger in 1970 and joined by the Geiger family of Geiger's Jewelry in 1999, is awarded to the graduating student with the highest undergraduate grade point average based solely on the coursework completed at California State University, Stanislaus.
