California State University, Stanislaus enrollment has once again reached an all-time high for freshmen, transfer, and graduate students.

Official enrollment data for the fall 2006 semester shows CSU Stanislaus numbers jumped 3% to 8,374 students, including a record-high 3.5% jump to 6,314 students who are classified as “full-time equivalent.”
High school seniors and others seeking admission to California State University, Stanislaus for the fall 2007 semester are encouraged to take advantage of the priority application filing period that extends through November 30. They can make that happen at the University’s annual Preview Day on Saturday, October 21.

All regularly eligible students applying during the initial filing period will be guaranteed admission to the University for the upcoming fall 2007 semester.
The highly accredited California State University, Stanislaus College of Business Administration has been recognized by a national organization for its assessment efforts aimed at improving students’ educational experiences.
The "Decision 2006" Turlock Mayoral Candidate Forum will be hosted and moderated by California State University, Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani on Wednesday, October 11, and broadcast live on the University’s public access cable channel 2.
Students at Benjamin Holt College Preparatory Academy, an Aspire Public School for sixth through 12th graders in the Lodi School District, are earning college credit through a cooperative program with California State University, Stanislaus.
Fresno poet John Veinberg, whose works have been published in books and journals all over the country, will make a presentation at California State University, Stanislaus on Thursday, October 5 at 2:30 p.m.

Veinberg will read from his book “Oarless Boats, Vacant Lots” in the South Dining Room at the Turlock campus, 801 W. Monte Vista Ave., Turlock. Admission is free and open to the public.
California State University, Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani has been elected to serve as a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) President’s/ Chancellor’s Group (PCG) at the Conference’s fall meetings in Los Angeles.
California State University, Stanislaus, with another record-high student enrollment for the fall semester, has hired 22 new full-time, tenure track faculty members from all over the world for the 2006-07 academic year.

CSU Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani said, “These new faculty members bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the California State University, Stanislaus campus, having distinguished themselves as among the best in their fields of study.”

New full-time, tenure-track faculty include:

California State University, Stanislaus student Theodore Ness and alumna Mally Youthsavath died in a car collision on Highway 99 Friday morning, September 15.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle driven by Ted Ness was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Highway 99 around 2 a.m. when it struck the vehicle driven by Mally Youthsavath (traveling northbound in the northbound lane). Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

California State University, Stanislaus student Texas Keo, who has overcome poverty as well as personal and cultural barriers to pursue her higher education goals while dedicating herself to raising four younger sisters, has been named one of 19 recipients for a prestigious California State University scholarship.
