Wagner, the first CSU Stanislaus student to win the award, will receive a $6,000 scholarship for enrolling in a sports-related academic program as a full-time graduate student in the 2013-14 academic year.
"I am so thankful and excited to receive this award," Wagner said. "It is of great help to continue my journey in achieving the educational goals I have set for myself."
Wagner will pursue a master's degree in coaching at Indiana State University, a Division I school in Terre Haute, Ind. She will also be a graduate assistant for the university's track and field program.
"Alycia is very deserving of this scholarship," said Kim Duyst, CSU Stanislaus associate athletics director. "She showed great leadership throughout her tenure here at CSU Stanislaus and is a great role model for our student-athletes. We wish her all the best and know that she has a great future in intercollegiate athletics."
A three-time All-American pole vaulter at CSU Stanislaus, Wagner is currently serving as an assistant coach this spring at CSU Los Angeles and will depart for Indiana State in August. While at CSU Stanislaus, Wagner was actively involved in campus and community relations and served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She worked both as an assistant coach on the cross country team and as an intern in the athletics department.
"I want to thank the NCAA for their continued support," Wagner said. "Most importantly, I want to thank Kim Duyst, who informed me of this opportunity in addition to many others that have helped me throughout my college career."
Wagner is one of 13 recipients of the award among all NCAA divisions. She completed her bachelor's degree in kinesiology at CSU Stanislaus in December.
