New students are admitted to the M.A. program for both the fall and spring semesters. Students interested in applying should send a letter of intent to the Graduate Director: pstrauss@csustan.edu.

  • This letter should briefly explain your reasons for wanting to undertake a Masters in History at Stanislaus State.
  • Applicants who did not complete 15 or more units of upper-division history at Stanislaus State should arrange to have two letters of recommendation sent directly to the Graduate Director.

After submitting the requisite letter(s), applicants will submit a complete application through Cal State Apply.

  • Applications for fall semester admission must be received by June 30.
  • Applications for spring semester admission must be received by October 31.

Once your application has been received and reviewed you will receive a formal decision letter by email from the Graduate Director. After you receive a formal decision letter from the Graduate Director, you will receive instructions from the Graduate School for setting up your student portal and enrolling in courses. During this time you should make an appointment to meet with the Graduate Director to discuss course selection and program requirements.
