Your Vote Matters

Shall the Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) fee be increased by $15.00 (Fifteen Dollars) per semester effective Fall 2024?

Voting — “Yes”  Voting — “No”
I support the increase of the current fee for Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) effective Fall 2024.

I do not wish to increase the Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) fee effective Fall 2024.

If implemented, beginning in Fall 2024, the fee would be fixed, and an annual Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) would be applied to the fee each academic year to adjust for inflation as determined by the Consumer Price Index. Any student that is not enrolled in classes would not be required to pay the fee. As is the case with the current fee, all students that pay the fee, including Stockton Campus students, would be eligible to access the services and programs provided by ASI.

ASI is the representative body and the official voice of the students at California State University, Stanislaus. The ASI Board of Directors is established to oversee the fee administration, fee revenue, and fee allocation. In addition, the ASI Board of Directors will provide direction and make decisions regarding all aspects of the budget and implemented services.

Informing Your Decision

Pro Statement Con Statement

The fee increase will allow ASI to continue providing programs and services currently offered that facilitate student’s educational, social, and emotional growth during their college years at Stanislaus State. Through these programs and services, ASI strives to enhance campus pride and student involvement.

The fee increase would allow ASI the opportunity to expand upon and offer new programs and services for students such as a new event at the Stockton campus, additional funding for larger scale campus events, i.e. Warrior Expo, Stanweek and Homecoming, and contributions to various campus departments.

The fee increase will allow the opportunity to meet the needs of not only the current student population's needs, but also student needs that may arise in the future. ASI encourages students to take advantage of all opportunities that better student engagement and student success during their time here at Stan State.

If implemented, the ASI fee increase would be applied in addition to the overall 6% tuition increase scheduled for the California State University system beginning Fall 2024.

Each academic year, subject to the recommendation of the Student Fee Advisory Committee to the President for approval, the fee will continue to be adjusted for a Cost-of-Living-Adjustment as determined by the Consumer Price Index.

Not all students view ASI as an organization that will benefit them or improve their student experience.

The fee increase will be especially felt by those students who are not eligible for financial aid or supported by scholarship programs.

Some students may feel that the proposed services and opportunities are not tailored to meet their individual needs or interests.

Objective Analysis

As of Spring 2024, ASI has a student fee of $91 per semester.  The proposed increase of $15.00 per semester would bring the fee total to $116 per semester or $232 each academic year. The fee increase is proposed to enhance and expand the student engagement and student success programs and opportunities ASI can offer to students.
