Welcome to the Public Health Capstone KINS4950 Information Page

This capstone course is only taken by senior-level students in their last semester, with KINS 4550, 4570, and 4590 prerequisites. 

Course Learning Objectives

To prepare students to make practical applications of the principles of health behavior. The students learning objectives may include:

  1. Synthesize and integrate knowledge acquired from core public health domains to address current health issues (PLO 1, 2)
  2. Apply ethical principles and professional standards to public health practice (PLO 3, 5)
  3. Demonstrate command of public health terminology and concepts through writing and oral presentations (PLO 2, 4, 6, 7)
  4. Apply techniques used to analyze, monitor, and evaluate public health-related data (PLO 6, 7)
  5. Demonstrate leadership and collaborative skills to achieve common goals in public health practice. (PLO 5, 8)

Public Health Promotion Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

The B.S. in Public Health Promotion will enable students to:

  1. Locate, evaluate, summarize, synthesize, and attribute information relevant to assessing and improving population health.
  2. Explain the relationship between and impact of social and physical determinants of health and their contribution to health disparities
  3. Identify the fundamental relationship between health, human rights, social justice, ethical practice, and advocacy
  4. Effectively utilize oral and written forms of communication to disseminate health information to diverse audiences
  5. Demonstrate professional and ethical standards and capacity to work independently and collaboratively
  6. Apply techniques used to analyze, monitor, and evaluate public health-related data
  7. Develop, implement, and evaluate public health programs conducted in varied settings
  8. Practice cultural humility, responsiveness, and respect when working with diverse populations
