CSU Stanislaus offers you the chance to study the varieties of history, explore your own favorite corners of the past, and effectively communicate what you've discovered.
The Masters Program in History offers a choice of two related programs, tailored to meet individual backgrounds and needs. We'll help you to develop a working knowledge of the seminal works in history, hone your ability to conduct research, heighten your analytical skills, and increase your literary precision and flair.
- Master of Arts (General), with thesis recommended for those contemplating future entry into a Ph.D. program, but open to all.
- Secondary Schools Concentration M.A., designed to enhance the personal and professional preparation of those already teaching history and the social sciences.
The Master of Arts Degree Program in History thus offers routes to further education tailored to individual needs, experiences, and professional endeavors. It has proven to be an excellent choice, not only for recent college graduates, but for individuals making mid-life career changes. Our graduates have gone on to careers in college and university education, journalism, California State Parks, museum management, law and business. An M.A. in History opens many doors.
