COMM 2011 – Introduction to Communication
Introduction to Communication welcomes you to the field of human communication as developed in contemporary theory and research. Recurrent variables in verbal and non-verbal interaction are traced through the intrapersonal, interpersonal, and multi-personal systems. This foundational course allows you to gain necessary skills in the field of communication that can be applied in various courses.

COMM 3200 – Communication Theory
This course challenges students to consider the purpose, goals, and criteria used to evaluate theory and then effectively, accurately apply those theories to their personal and professional life. Communication contexts encompass interpersonal to mass media and cultural communication theories.

COMM 3112 – Radio and Podcast Lab
Open to all students, regardless of major or grade level, this lab course in the fundamentals of audio production and radio broadcasting, offers students the opportunity to apply their skill through production of live radio shows and podcasts at KCSS Radio Station. This course offers training in operation of audio mixing, recording and broadcast equipment.

COMM 3100 – Advanced Interpersonal
For those interested in having dynamic, more effective interactions, then look no further than Advanced Interpersonal. This course dives into the structure and communication processes in two-person relationships in areas such as interpersonal attraction, compatibility, power, love, sex roles and conflict.

COMM 4140 – Rhetoric of Pop Culture
This course provides you with the analytical skills to interpret and act upon the multifarious persuasive texts that constantly demand our attention within contemporary media. By understanding the value of rhetorical criticism, who will become a critical, informed citizen.

COMM 4215 – PR Campaigns
The focus of this course pertains to the principles of creating impactful public relation campaigns, wherein students will learn to develop strategic messaging, engage with media and leverage community outreach to create personalized, meaningful campaigns. This course emphasizes practical skills in planning, executing and evaluating campaigns and is ideal for those interested in understanding how to shape public perception.
