California State University, Stanislaus will host its fifteenth annual César E. Chávez Memorial Celebration on Thursday, March 25.
The California State University, Stanislaus Police Department has purchased its first patrol car in five years.
 
University Police used self-generated funding, rather than state funds, to purchase the Chevrolet Camaro for $27,249.
 
After the 1994 economic downturn that led to steep state budget cuts, the department developed a plan to offset cuts by generating its own revenue. The department generates its own revenue by processing parking tickets for three community colleges and six other state universities.

Having won first and third place at the State Human Resources Collegiate Competition this past earlier this month, California State University, Stanislaus will advance to the Pacific Western Regional Championship on March 20.

The Jeopardy-style games are an annual academic event designed to foster friendly competition among university students while preparing them for careers in human resources.
Students with the best research projects will win up to $500 in the 24th annual California State University Student Research Competition on March 19.

WHO: The competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at CSU Stanislaus. Alumni who received their degrees in spring, summer or fall of 2009 are also eligible.

WHAT: The research presented should be appropriate to the student’s discipline and career goals.

WHEN: The deadline to enter is March 8. The campus-wide competition will be held March 19.

For the fourth straight year, California State University, Stanislaus has received the President’s Higher Education Community Service Award.

CSU Stanislaus was one of only seven California State University campuses to receive the national honor roll distinction.

“This award showcases the excellent work faculty, staff and students are doing in our community. As evidenced by this recognition, CSU Stanislaus is working diligently during these very difficult economic times to be an agent for positive change,” said President Dr. Hamid Shirvani.
Young Scientists Prepare for Regional Science Olympiad

Following this week's announcement that California State University, Stanislaus will receive $1.17 million in federal stimulus funds, President Dr. Hamid Shirvani said the one-time funds will help add classes in the 2010/11 academic year.

The funding is part of the $50.9 million allocation from the California State University system, which the Chancellor's office announced earlier this month. It is meant to enable state universities to add needed classes to the fall 2010 and spring 2011 schedules.
California State University, Stanislaus President Dr. Hamid Shirvani announced the appointment of Dr. Linda Nowak as the new Dean for the College of Business Administration. Nowak will start her new duties on March 1.

In addition to being the Executive Director of the Wine Business Institute, Nowak is a marketing professor and serves on the School of Business and Economics Executive Management Team at Sonoma State University.
