The following statement was issued today by CSU Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani regarding false allegations by state Senator Leland Yee:

“It is unfortunate that Senator Leland Yee is conveniently using a legal response from the University for further political gain. The fact is that the contract with the Washington Speakers Bureau to retain Gov. Palin is between the Bureau and the University Foundation. That is why in the response to the public records act request, our campus compliance officer stated ‘The University has no documents that are responsive to your request.’
CSU Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani has issued the following information and statements in response to Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr’s announcement Tuesday evening that he has launched a broad investigation into the California State University, Stanislaus Foundation to include an examination of its finances and the alleged dumping of documents into a university dumpster.

“We welcome the investigation and expect it will clarify how a foundation document could have ended up in a state senator’s hands,” said CSU Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani.
California State University, Stanislaus High School Mathematics Access Program and the Central California Mathematics Project are teaming up to address academic issues faced by 8th graders through high school seniors at an upcoming math conference.
 
What: The Expanding Your Horizons conference will focus on academic issues facing 8th graders through high school seniors.
 
Who: For students in grades 8 to 12 and their parents

Kindergarten through 12-grade teachers facilitated by education and math experts.
 
What: Central California Math Project Annual Conference
Presentations include Current Issues in Math Education, information on graduate programs in math education, math content and pedagogy.

California State University, Stanislaus has received a significant funding boost from a state health program working to increase the number of nurses in California.
Seven CSU Stanislaus students advanced to state level competition and scored the top prizes at the University’s annual Student Research Competition on March 19 in the John Stuart Rogers Faculty Development Center.
 
All six top placers will advance to the California State University system-wide competition at San Jose State University on April 30 and May 1.

The College of the Arts' Department of Music at California State University, Stanislaus is pleased to join the Turlock Concert Association to present the Golden Gala Concert in celebration of CSU Stanislaus’ 50th anniversary. This very special performance will be held Thursday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Turlock Community Theatre.

California State University, Stanislaus President Dr. Hamid Shirvani announced today the appointment of two new endowed professorships in education and nursing.

Christie Sue Whalen-Saxton Professor of Teacher Education
Dr. Elmano Costa, a professor of Teacher Education, was named the Christie Sue Whalen-Saxton Professor of Teacher Education. This endowment was established to support and enhance teacher-training programs. Ms. Whalen-Saxton received her B.A. degree in 1977 and her teaching credential in 1979 from CSU Stanislaus.
The College of the Arts Forum Series is pleased to present award winning Iraqi-American playwright and performer Heather Raffo in Sounds of Desire on Tuesday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Mainstage Theatre. This special one-night only performance is hosted in celebration of Women’s History Month.
