For the 20th consecutive year, California State University, Stanislaus has been ranked among the best regional colleges in the West by U.S. News and World Report.

The rankings, released Wednesday, placed Stanislaus State No. 15 among public universities in the West region — the same spot the University garnered last year — and No. 57 regionally among all four-year colleges.

Overall, the 23 members of the California State University system fared well in the rankings. Ten CSU schools are ranked in the top 60 on the list of western schools, while occupying 16 of the top 23 spots on the list of the region’s top public universities.

U.S. News & World Report gathers and weighs data from 16 areas related to academic excellence, then ranks schools according to a composite score.

This ranking is the latest indication of how Stanislaus State continues to be perceived on a regional and national basis.

In July, Money magazine ranked Stanislaus State as the nation’s No. 1 public university for helping students exceed expectations. Then, in August, the Princeton Review placed Stanislaus State on its list of the nation’s best 380 colleges for a 10th straight year.

Stan State placed 10th in the region among 233 schools in the West in Washington Monthly’s “Best Bang for the Buck” list, released in March. The same publication earlier this month listed Stanislaus State as No. 28 in the nation for master’s programs.
