California State University, Stanislaus, hired 20 new full-time, tenure-track faculty for the 2008-09 academic year.

“California State University, Stanislaus is fortunate to welcome an outstanding group of new faculty from all over the country who are among the best in their academic fields and noted for their expertise and experience," President Hamid Shirvani said.

The new full-time, tenure-track faculty by college and department include:

College of the Arts

The state’s budget difficulties resulted in the first decrease in fall enrollment at California State University, Stanislaus since 2004, prompting a call for students who plan to enroll in 2009 to get their applications in soon. 
 
After four years of steadily increasing enrollment, CSU Stanislaus had to roll back its enrollment due to state budget cuts. Student numbers are down by 2.7 percent at 8,600 for fall 2009, 236 fewer than the fall 2007 all-time high of 8,836. Full-time student numbers are only down one percent to 6,620.
California State University, Stanislaus will be on display October 17-19 for prospective students as well as current students and their families during a pair of special programs at which they can explore the campus and meet professors in a casual setting. 
 
Prospective students and their families will have their special day on campus on Saturday, October 18 with the annual Preview Day program.
