Event Series | October - December 2018
The Data-Sharing & Assessment Showcase Event Series has been designed to help foster an ongoing and enhanced culture of using data to inform decisions. The event series includes a range of activities including (but not limited to): dissemination and discussion of University survey results (e.g, National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), Sustainability, Campus Climate), assessment spotlight/highlights from both curricular and co-curricular programs, training opportunities for the use of institutional dashboards, General Education Academic Program Review discussion, and an update on the work of the Core Competencies and College Assessment Faculty Learning Communities.

Use of Induced Course Load Matrix (ICLM) In Enrollment Management

The ICLM is a tool designed to assist those involved in managing programs. It is a multi-dimensional projection model that provides detailed forecasts of FTES targets by academic department, and is helpful in assessing the change in demand for FTES from specific departments based on the expected change in majors across the campus.

These surveys provide insight into student study habits and non-academic responsibilities, as well as faculty perceptions of the same. In addition, the results presented here will highlight 6 risk factors of Stanislaus State students that are associated with reduced retention.

Stanislaus State has established six core competencies aligned with our Institutional Learning Goals: Oral Communication, Written Communication, Critical Thinking, Information Literacy, Quantitative Reasoning, and Civic Engagement. Stanislaus State has dedicated six faculty learning communities (FLCs) to develop strategies for the assessment of these six competencies at or near graduation and to support the introduction and development of the competencies throughout the curriculum. For this presentation, FLC leads will provide an overview of work-to-date and discuss next steps. There will be time for Q&A allotted.

Distance Education: A Self-Study

Several programs utilize distance education components to reach more students or make the programs more convenient for their students. We will be presenting results from data collected over the last 5 years on Distance Education enrollment trends, retention and graduation rates among other results. The sneak preview is that students in distance learning courses/programs perform roughly similarly to those in face-to-face learning programs.

The Committee for Sustainable Futures will be discussing its work since its creation in Fall 2017. The committee consists of faculty, staff, administration, and student representatives from ASI and USU, and our mission is to increase sustainability efforts and visibility on the Stan State campus. We address sustainability broadly, including its environmental, social, and economic dimensions. At this presentation, we will provide details of both our Student Sustainability Survey and our Administration, Faculty, and Staff Sustainability Survey, which were designed to gauge campus attitudes and knowledge about sustainability at Stan State.
