After 39 years of service in higher education – 37 years with the California State University and the last seven at the helm of Stanislaus State – President Ellen Junn announced Wednesday, Jan. 18, her decision to retire at the end of the 2022-2023 academic year.
Junn shared the news in a video message and letter to campus and community members.

Instructionally Related Programs
Anthropology Service Learning Project with We Care Program
Dr. Richard Wallace and his anthropology students have conducted interviews with the homeless men that utilize the We Care Shelter and dinner services to apply academic components while highlighting the experiences of voices rarely heard. In Spring 2022, the anthropology students interviewed over 16 We Care clients about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program
Stan State participated in the VITA program for 19 years as Accounting and Finance students provide free federal and state tax return preparation for low income and underserved members of the community during February and March. The University partnered with the IRS and the Turlock Salvation Army, where the tax clinics are held.

What is an Academic Internship?
An academic internship is a credit-bearing, career-related work experience of limited duration in which an individual takes on responsible roles outside of the traditional university environment. Academic internships may take place in a nonprofit organization, government office, or for-profit business. Depending on the employer, some internships are paid.
