Programs for K-16 Educators

GVWP offers research-based professional learning programs aligned with California Standards, policies and programs. Our classroom teachers provide intensive, ongoing programs tailored to student and educator needs and designed to ensure equitable outcomes.  Here are some ways GVWP can help your district build the capacity of your staff to have students meet the requirements of college and workplace literacy expectations.

Content Area Literacy

Are you an educator-or preparing to become one? GVWP offers professional growth opportunities for all educators, including administrators, classroom teachers, college students in credential programs, and paraprofessional aides. We can help you become a better teacher of writing.

COVID-19 Update

GVWP will be following campus regulations regarding summer programs during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Young Writers Workshop 2021

Due to Covid-19 campus restrictions, GVWP will not hold our annual summer writing camp for youth. We thank parents and students for their interest and hope students will continue to read, write and publish their work throughout the summer. We suggest you visit the National Novel Writing Month website to register for NaNoWriMo camp.

The Great Valley Writing Project is funded through the California Writing Project, an entity of the California Subject Matter Projects, and the National Writing Project. The writing project focuses the knowledge, expertise, and leadership of educators on sustained efforts to improve writing and learning for all learners. GVWP provides Professional Development for schools and districts, Inquiry Groups, Family Literacy Programs, and Young Writers' Programs. The GVWP serves Calaveras, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne counties.
