The University Fine Art Collection contains a wide variety of art objects, most of them donated to the University Art Gallery/Art Department to form a study collection for the benefit of students. The collection ranges from sculptural objects created in various cultures including Egypt, China, Japan, Persia, Africa, and Precolumbian Middle America. A particularly important aspect of the collection is a large group of prints from the Tamarind workshops that features innovative prints of historical interest.

Brief History of the Gallery

The University Art Gallery has been in operation since the establishment of Stanislaus State in 1965. Historically, the UAG has mounted a program of changing exhibitions during the academic year (September through May). Major accomplishments are linked with our commitment to increase, gradually and continually, the quality of exhibitions and programs of interest to the students and the public in the surrounding valley.
