Dr. Gökçe Soydemir has joined California State University (CSU), Stanislaus as the inaugural Foster Farms Endowed Professor of Business Economics. Dr. Soydemir brings strong expertise and experience in business analysis and forecasting to the CSU Stanislaus College of Business Administration. In addition to his time in the classroom, Dr. Soydemir plans to use a series of new reports and initiatives that are designed to better inform Central Valley businesses and assist them in their decision making.

At its July 12 meeting, the CSU Board of Trustees increased tuition by an additional 12 percent effective in the Fall 2011 term. The board’s action was precipitated by legislative passage last month of a final state budget that cuts state funding to the CSU by $650 million for 2011-12. The legislature had already approved a $500 million cut to the CSU in March and added $150 million more when the governor could not get the two-thirds support needed to extend several temporary taxes that expired June 30.
California State University (CSU), Stanislaus Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs James Strong has announced the selection of Dr. Kathy Norman as dean of the CSU Stanislaus College of Education, effective July 1, 2011.

Dr. Norman currently serves as the associate dean for the College of Education at CSU Sacramento. Immediately prior, Dr. Norman served for over 14 years as an integrated credential program coordinator and professor in the College of Education at CSU San Marcos.
More than 1,400 area third-graders visited CSU Stanislaus on Friday, May 20 to participate in AgEdventure Day hosted by the department of Agricultural Studies. Students participated in ag activities and learned about commodities produced in the Central Valley. They had the chance to climb into tractors, tour a sustainable garden, and get up close and personal with a variety of farm animals including goats, pigs, chickens, and dairy cows.
CSU chancellor, presidents and business leaders to meet directly with Governor Brown and legislators on a possible $1 billion dollar total budget cut to the CSU system that could bring devastating effects to students, families and campuses

WHAT: California State University (CSU), Stanislaus President Hamid Shirvani will join CSU Chancellor Charles B. Reed for special meetings with Governor Brown and regional legislators. The parties will strongly advocate the critical need to protect the CSU system from additional large-scale budget reductions.
