Demand for change that has recently been voiced in the streets of America and has been addressed by sustainability advocates for years, has resulted in a first-time collaboration among CSU partners to present “Climate Justice = Social Justice: Exploring the Intersections of People, Planet and Power.”

The virtual event, part of Sustainability Month, is open to everyone and features young social and environmental advocates of color. It begins Monday with a keynote address and Q&A session with Mustafa Santiago Ali from noon-1 p.m.

Robin Fredeking, who dreams of one day working as a family nurse practitioner in the Turlock region, is Stanislaus State’s recipient of California State University’s 2020 Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Achievement.


The Office of Faculty Affairs will host a half-day virtual forum to discuss and develop strategies to support and retain faculty of color at Stanislaus State.

The four-hour workshop titled, “Centering Faculty of Color: Building a Critical Campus for Social Change,” will take place from 1-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 via Zoom. Visit the University Events Calendar for details.


The Grant Will Fund Advising, Mentoring and A Host of Support Services for Approximately 250 Students


When a Stan State essential employee tested positive for COVID-19 in July, Kellie Marshall, interim director of Safety and Risk Management, ​immediately responded by calling the person’s colleagues.

“People react differently,” Marshall explained, describing how she addressed the gamut of their emotions from the shock of possibly being exposed to the deadly virus to fear.

​The Four-Year Grant Will Provide Opportunities for Students to Conduct Research and Boost the University’s Research Program

Stanislaus State Assistant Professor of Chemistry Gönül Schara has received a $408,000 four-year grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that will aid her research of an enzyme’s ability to synthesize high-value drug metabolites and use protein engineering to generate further improvements.


Reflecting its new name as voted on by students last spring, the Stan State Warrior Cross Cultural Center has scheduled a virtual Special Event Series that focuses on the intersectionality of identities of both individuals and communities.
