McNair Explorers
The McNair Explorers program is designed for students who are interested in undergraduate research and/or earning a PhD. The program is open to Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors, and, in some cases, Seniors at Stan State.
Students will be introduced to research and graduate school through workshops and seminars. Students who participate in McNair Explorers will have an advantage in the McNair Scholars Program application process. (Participation in McNair Explorers does not guarantee acceptance into the McNair Scholars Program.)
Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility requirements for McNair Explorers differs a bit from eligibility for the McNair Scholars Program. For example, Freshman and Sophomore applicants to the Explorers have a more flexible GPA range. Additionally, primary consideration is given to students who are considered low-income and first-gen, and/or a member of an underrepresented group in higher education.
Benefits
There are many benefits to joining the McNair Explorers, including but not limited to:
- Mentorship
- Academic Workshops

- Academic Advising
- Research and Grad School Seminars
- Social and Community Events
- Streamlined McNair Program application process (contingent on completion of McNair Explorers)
