Students from all undergraduate majors who have completed at least 30 units (sophomore standing) and want to go to graduate school for a Masters or Ph.D. are encouraged to apply.
In order to be eligible for the McNair Scholars program, a student must be an undergraduate enrolled at Stan State, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and fit into at least one of two eligibility categories:
Be a low-income student and a first-generation college student of any ethnicity (a first-generation college student is someone whose parent(s) or guardian(s) did not complete a bachelor’s degree),
Be a member of at least one of the four ethnic groups underrepresented in American graduate schools— African-American, Latino/a, Native American, or Pacific Islander.
Applications for the first cohort, which will start in the Spring 2018 semester, will be available through InfoReady.
The application period will extend until all spaces are filled.
