HIST 2900 – Historical Research Methods
Students will learn to access and evaluate different types of historical sources and to think critically about historical research methods. Enrollment is restricted to History, Liberal Studies, and Social Science majors and to students completing the Public History Certificate.

HIST 3731 - African American History since 1865
Examines key developments in African American social, cultural, and political history from the Reconstruction period through the twenty-first century.

HIST 4585 – Climate History and Climate Change
The role of climate in world history, including contemporary climate change. Topics include natural climatic variation, causes and consequences of the contemporary climate crisis, and analysis of possible climate solutions. Open to Juniors and Seniors only.

HIST 4980 - Individual Study
The Individual Study course offers a unique opportunity for graduate students to pursue a self-directed research project. You can apply up to 6 units of HIST 4980 toward your B.A. degree, allowing you to explore a specific historical topic of interest under the guidance of a faculty member with expertise in that area.
Whether you want to research a specific period, region or historical theme, Individual Study lets you shape your academic path according to your interests. Faculty availability to supervise these projects may vary, so it’s important to find a professor whose expertise aligns with your topic.
