
Black Student Success (BSS) provides resources and support to foster holistic wellness and academic success. Our goal is to create inclusive spaces that amplify Black culture, belonging and identity development.
Services
- Inclusive Wellness Programming: Engage in activities designed to foster a deeper connection with yourself and others.
- One-On-One Support: Receive personalized guidance and mentorship.
- Campus Liaison Services: We help connect students, faculty and staff with additional campus and community resources beyond BSS.

Events & Programs
We host a variety of events that celebrate Black culture and student success. Do not miss out on these big events, including:
- KickBlack: A community-building monthly event that connects students in a supportive space dedicated to creating meaningful connections, sharing laughter and joy.
- Album Unpacking Party: Dive into the sounds of Black music, culture and storytelling! From rap artists like J. Cole to inspiring gospel albums, join us as we explore the powerful narratives woven through these impactful works.

Register for Black Grad!
The Black Graduation Celebration is a deeply meaningful ceremony that pays homage to the resilience, excellence and cultural heritage of our graduates. Come together with friends, family, faculty and staff to commemorate this special milestone in the lives of our students.
Please note: Participation in Graduate Celebrations is separate from the Class of 2025 Commencement Ceremonies.

The Black Student Union (BSU) at Stan State promotes activities of common interest, cultural and educational benefits for the African American student body.
The Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA) at Stan State aims to promote awareness and advocacy of equal access for Black faculty and staff; and advise, support, counsel and assist Black students.
The Sistas In Support (SIS) Mentorship Program started with a discussion between two students in Fall of 2020. This idea quickly become a reality with the guidance of two African American women faculty who shared a similar goal.
SIS is designed to pair students with staff members, faculty, and admin who have similar academic backgrounds, hobbies, and career interests. All students, regardless of sex, race, color, or national origin, who are interested in the Program’s mission are welcome.
