Male Success Initiative, Stanislaus State

Mission

The Male Success Initiative (MSI) at Stanislaus State supports student growth and academic success by creating inclusive spaces where all men of color, self-identified men and individuals who identify with the program feel safe to express vulnerability, embrace their authentic selves and be empowered to drive social change. Opportunities are open to all individuals, regardless of sex, race, color or national origin, gender identity, religion and sexual orientation.

MSI inspires transformative learning through intentional programs, meaningful dialogues and community building that advocates for the dismantling of toxic heteronormative traits. The core of our work will revolve around reconstructing and healing from negative ideologies by promoting self-reflection, critical thinking and empathy. We aim to engage students by organizing a series of programs and services dedicated to addressing systemic inequities, academic achievement gaps and persistence to graduation.

Pillars of Success

In collaboration with campus and community stakeholders, we are committed to the academic and career success of traditionally marginalized men. Building upon the four pillars of success: Mentoring, Achievement, Leadership Development and Empowerment. MSI provides opportunities that will foster growth and holistic wellbeing.
