Academic Probation

A student will be placed under academic probation anytime their cumulative or Stanislaus State grade point average (GPA) falls below a 2.0.

Repeating Courses

Consider repeating a course(s) to potentially raise your GPA.
No more than 16 units may be repeated with forgiveness at Stanislaus State.

Calculate Your GPA

The GPA Calculator allows you to compute your GPA and project future GPA based on projected grades for current students.

Academic Disqualification & Reinstatement

Most students are disqualified due to their Stanislaus State GPA. A student will only be reinstated once that GPA has improved to the level needed based on class standing. A student seeking reinstatement must bring a Reinstatement Petition and any documentation necessary to prove an improved GPA to the Advising and Success Center during walk-in advising hours. An ASC advisor must meet with the student and review the documentation before the petition can be submitted. This GPA calculator will help you recalculate your GPA.

A student who has not been enrolled at the University for one year or who has matriculated at another institution since last attending Stanislaus State must also apply for readmission, following established dates and deadlines, in order to be reinstated.

Disqualification GPA Ranges

A student will be disqualified from the University when as a:

  • Freshman (0-30 completed units) the student falls below a grade point average of 1.50 in all units attempted or in all units attempted at Stanislaus State.
  • Sophomore (30-59 completed units) the student falls below a grade point average of 1.70 in all units attempted or in all units attempted at Stanislaus State.
  • Junior (60-89 completed units) the student falls below a grade point average of 1.85 in all units attempted or in all units attempted at Stanislaus State.
  • Senior (90+ completed units) the student falls below a grade point average of 1.95 in all units attempted or in all units attempted at Stanislaus State.

Important Note: Your class level is based on the total (cumulative) number of units you have completed.

Make an appointment with an academic advisor to discuss your individual situation and plan for your return. Email to schedule an appointment.

If you have attended Stanislaus in the past, and you have attended other institutions since you were last here, bring copies of those transcripts if you have them (even unofficial ones).
