The Black Musicians Matter Series is a forum to share with the Stan State community some of the significant, ongoing work and contributions by Black American musicians. Artists engaged by the Music Department will present lectures and masterclasses to students and/or share performances. As part of the CAHSS Dean’s Lecture Series, artists will also share messages of inspiration, struggle, hope, and the power of music to empower cultural awareness and help create a better future for us all.

Across numerous sectors, female leaders are rising to the helm of innovation, driving ingenuity in the face of crises. Through the shared attributes of humility, tenacity, benevolence and pragmatism, these inspiring women are emerging as changemakers and pioneers — and leading innovative change that has already begun to generate global change in numerous beneficial ways. 

It’s First-Generation Week at Stanislaus State, and the University is celebrating by recognizing its community of first-gen college students with a host of activities and events.

Universities nationwide are participating in the annual National First-Generation College Celebration, which honors the anniversary of signing of the Higher Education Act (HEA) of 1965. The act emerged from President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty, which was intended to help level the playing field weighed against Americans from underrepresented, minority and low-income backgrounds.

October kicked off an awesome autumn at Stanislaus State that saw scholarship students honored for their achievements, federal grants awarded and the Ethnic Studies Program reaching 50 years. In case you missed it, here’s a recap:

The Department of Art/Graphic Arts is excited to invite you to Fall 2021, Visiting Artist Series, Zoom Lecture with artist John McCaughey. The artist will speak for 45 minutes, and then there will be a 15 minute live Q&A.
