As a first-generation college student, Jelaine Joy Esguerra understands the importance of receiving guidance and support to help navigate both academic and personal challenges. It’s what inspires her to strive toward becoming a K-12 counselor. 

The Black Graduation Celebration is a culturally rich pre-commencement ceremony that honors the achievements of our graduating students. This event provides a space to celebrate the heritage, resilience, and academic excellence, incorporating traditions that reflect the strength and beauty of the African diaspora. This celebration is a complement to the university's official commencement, offering a unique and meaningful experience for graduates, their families, and the community.

Modern Language majors and minors will present their studies of culture and coursework from the 2025–2026 academic year at a symposium. This event provides an opportunity for students to share their academic achievements. Presentations will take place throughout the day as student schedules permit. Attendees are welcome to stop by at any time to celebrate the diversity of languages and cultures explored by our students.
