Dr Goshu Wolde Tefera

Dr. Goshu Wolde Tefera is an Associate Professor of Ethnic Studies at California State University, Stanislaus. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Geography from Monash University, Australia, and M.A. degrees from Syracuse University and Bahir Dar University. His teaching and research focus on African diasporas, racialization, migration, and place, examining how power, mobility, displacement, and time shape belonging, placemaking, and urban futures. Dr. Tefera’s research has been published in journals including Progress in Human Geography, Urban Geography, Population, Space and Place, Geoforum, Journal of Refugee Studies, Journal of Sociology, and Journal of International and Global Studies. Before joining Stan State, he worked in international development and community-based initiatives in policy and research settings across three continents.
