Defining Creative and Critical Inquiry

The CCI FLC utilized language from the AAC&U's Critical Thinking VALUE rubric as a starting point for developing a campus definition of creative and analytical problem sollving:

...a habit of mind characterized by the comprehensive exploration of issues, ideas, artifacts, and events before accepting or formulating an opinion or conclusion.

Using this definition, the FLC developed and administered a survey in spring 2018 to solicit feedback. Participants were asked to identify markers of CCI, describe how CCI is integrated into the curriculum, and highlight assessment of CCI at or near graduation. The FLC will use survey findings to further develop and regine a Stanislaus definition of CCI.
